Job Title: Contract Chef with Non-Commercial Foodservice Experience

Location: Preferably within 1-2 hours of Chicago Area (Willing to Travel)

Type: Contract (As Needed Basis)

 

Cahokia Rice, a family-owned rice farm in Southern Illinois, is dedicated to offering a healthier, diabetic-friendly rice variety to the market. Our rice is distinguished by its high protein content and the lowest glycemic index reported in a commercial rice, appealing to health-conscious consumers and culinary experts. As we grow, we seek a skilled Chef with non-commercial foodservice experience (e.g., healthcare, education) to collaborate with us on a contract basis.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Developing recipes that highlight the unique attributes of Cahokia Rice.
  • Producing cooking videos to demonstrate the versatility and benefits of our rice.
  • Providing culinary consultations to our team and external partners.
  • Representing Cahokia Rice at trade shows and events by preparing dishes, serving samples, and discussing our rice's culinary applications with attendees.
  • Advocating for the use of Cahokia Rice in non-commercial foodservice settings, emphasizing its health benefits and superior culinary properties.

 

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in non-commercial foodservice sectors such as healthcare and education.
  • Creative culinary skills with a portfolio of recipes and/or cooking videos.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities.
  • Availability to travel for events, trade shows, and consultations, with travel expenses reimbursed.
  • Preference for candidates living within a 1-2 hour radius of the Chicago area.
  • A passion for integrating health and wellness into the culinary world, particularly focusing on diabetic-friendly and high-protein options.

 

Compensation:

  • Hourly rate competitive and based on experience.
  • This position is contract-based, with work assigned as needed.
